Spotlight on Cabaret: Designers, Cast, and More

The Department's Fall 2017 MainStage production of Cabaret is here! The rehearsal process is at an end, the design components have come together, and the audience members are headed to their seats. The production has been in the spotlight throughout the fall with a myriad of articles and features highlighting different aspects of the creative process and various members of the cast.

The Dartmouth News has offered a number of features on Cabaret, including most recently a piece highlighting Professor Veronika Fuechtner's role as an advisor to the production. Professor Fuechtner is with the Department of German Studies and is an expert on Weimar Germany. She visited the cast over dinner for an in-depth conversation about the historical context of the musical; the Dartmouth News article on Professor Fuechtner's participation in the creative process is HERE. Set designer Professor Michael Ganio and lighting designer Professor Dan Kotlowitz were also interviewed by the Dartmouth News, discussing their creative collaboration, the technical design process, and their work in the physical space of the theater.  Check out their interview here!

In other news, the Hopkins Center for the Arts is spotlighting Cabaret with a series of pieces written by (among others) Maggie Baird '18, a theater minor interning with the Hop's Outreach team during her senior year. Maggie's latest installment highlighted the production's fantastic student stage management team.
