Founded and directed by Associate Professor of Theater Dr. Monica White Ndounou, the Craft Institute is one of four institutions selected by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to administer a newly-awarded $5 million grant to support Black theaters across the United States.

The Department of Theater was saddened to learn of the recent death of Lorna C. Hill '73, an actor, playwright, poet, teacher, and activist. One of the first African American women to graduate from Dartmouth, Ms. Hill was a groundbreaking figure both in Hanover NH and in the broader theatrical community.
