It is with profound sadness that we mark the passing of Professor Annabelle Winograd, a beloved member of the Dartmouth College faculty for over 20 years. Annabelle was not only a brilliant academic but also an extraordinary mentor, friend, and advocate for her students. Known for her sharp intellect, her deep commitment to the study of theater, and her unyielding dedication to her craft. Her contributions to the field of theater were profound, and her legacy will continue on for years to come.
Over the course of 20 years, Professor Winograd became a fixture in Dartmouth's Department of Theater, earning recognition for her work both in the classroom and beyond. Her scholarly achievements were celebrated by many, culminating in her receipt of the American Theatre & Drama Society's prestigious Betty Jean Jones Award in 2023. This honor was a reflection of her influence as a scholar and a professional in the theater world, acknowledging her impactful contributions to the study and practice of theater.
Annabelle Winograd spent her life dedicated to theater– understanding it, teaching it, and shaping the future of it. Her legacy will live on in the students she mentored.
