YourSpace Proposal Guidelines

Please read the YourSpace program information below BEFORE submitting your application!

All applications must be received electronically on or before the term's deadline; proposals should be emailed to Greg PotterBrianna Parry. Proposals should include the following information:

  • Proposal description, and copy of script if applicable
  • Proposed Production Category (YourSpace, in this case)
  • Proposed budget

Please note: Students submitting YourSpace proposals are welcome to also audition for the MainStage, but they must inform the department that they are doing so. Should you be cast, the Director of Theater will contact you to discuss whether it will be necessary to withdraw your proposal because of time constraints.

There are no pre-requisites to submit a YourSpace proposal; any student may apply, regardless of class year, major/minor, or previous theater experience. Proposals will be reviewed carefully by the Director of Theater, who will make the final production selection. Questions may be directed to Production Manager Brianna Parry.

About the Program

YourSpace: In a Nutshell

The YourSpace program provides individual or groups of students with a venue for performance. Each artist, performer, or group will have access to the Bentley Theater space for one week to prepare and present a performance, as well as to a student technician to provide production support on a very limited basis (lighting/sound only).  Project parameters are as follows:

  • Access to the Bentley Theater for one week, for rehearsing in the space
  • Up to four hours of rehearsal time with a student technician in advance of performance
  • Limited sound and lighting support from the theater dept
  • No scenic, costumes, or stage management support from the theater dept
  • A total of no more than two public performances
  • Total available budget of $50.00 to support the work

YourSpace projects focus on the work, the process, and/or the performance, rather than on any production elements. Proposals are reviewed carefully by the department's Director of Theater, who will make the final project selection. The Production Manager will be available to each YourSpace project, to act as the liaison between the individual/group and the Department of Theater, answer questions, and facilitate logistics.

For more information, please contact Production Manager Brianna Parry. Students may also access the Department of Theater's Student Production Manual for details and information.
