The Department of Theater's Class of 1968 Mini-Fellowships are designed for students with demonstrable financial need who are unable to participate fully in our productions due to the time constraints associated with work study and/or other job obligations. In order to help facilitate student participation in our productions, we are offering term-long fellowships of $1630 each, to be disbursed in two payments of $815 over the course of the term.
For the 2025-26 academic year, we are able to offer three mini-fellowships, available in winter and spring terms.
The Class of 1968 Mini-Fellowships are designed to facilitate planned involvement in the department over the course of an entire term. Students are encouraged to apply in advance of the start of each term, but in any event no later than the application deadlines listed below. Students who wish to perform as part of their fellowship term should be aware that a role in a department production is not guaranteed. Similarly, students wishing to apply for a student production slot should know that selection for a fellowship term is not a guarantee that their production proposal will be approved. If the audition process does not yield a role, or if the application for a student production slot is not successful, we will work with the fellowship student to develop a rewarding alternative that will expand the student's theater experience in useful ways.
Please note that the Class of 1968 Mini-Fellowships are designed to facilitate extracurricular involvement in the department; they are not intended to facilitate credit-based or course-based activity such as those related to an honors thesis, THEA 40, or an independent study. They can, however, facilitate the completion of production credits that are not connected to an academic course.
Funding for the Class of 1968 Mini-Fellowships is currently available for three years, through the 2027-28 academic year. Extending the mini-fellowship program is a top priority of the department.
