Theater Foreign Study Program in London!

The Theater Foreign Study Program (FSP) offers students the opportunity to combine theater studies and professional practice in theater at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), one of the world's great conservatories. The program is a unique chance for students to develop their craft while taking advantage of London's incomparable theatrical tradition and vibrant cultural scene. Students on the Theater FSP typically see about thirty performances over the course of the term. Housing is provided in central London; classrooms, studio and rehearsal space are located at LAMDA.

Applications will be available online in mid-September through the Off-Campus Programs website. The application deadline will be in early January of 2016; an interview with a Theater faculty member is also required for admission, so please plan to do this in the fall if you will not be on campus next winter.

Curriculum offerings include: Theater 60 (Classical Performance I at LAMDA), Theater 61 (Classical Performance II at LAMDA) and Theater 62 (Plays in Performance: Perception and Analysis). Theater 62 involves attending three-four shows per week, plus a weekly seminar with a Dartmouth instructor).

Prerequisites of the FSP are: One theater history course: THEA 15,16,17 or English 15 and one course in theater practice: THEA 10 (upon approval), 26, 28, 29, 30, 36, 41, 42, 44, 45, 48 or 50.

Applications also require two faculty recommendations (they do not have to be from Theater faculty).

*The Chair of the Theater Department may waive certain prerequisites under special circumstances.
