The Department produces two MainStage productions each year. These productions are directed, choreographed and designed by top-quality, experienced industry professionals.
MainStage productions are typically produced in the fall and winter term of each academic year. These productions are usually mounted on the Moore Stage, the larger of the Department's two performance spaces. MainStage shows are directed, designed, and choreographed by Dartmouth professors and/or guest professionals. Upcoming and recent guest artists on the MainStage have included JaMeeka Holloway-Burrell, Jane Shaw, Jennifer Reiser, David Remedios, Miranda Haymon, Martin Schnellinger, Lawrence Moten, Tazewell Thompson, Stephen Quandt, and Kathy Perkins.
Casts range in size from as few as four to upwards of 30. In addition to performing, students serve as stage managers for MainStage productions. Experienced upperclass students may also occasionally take the role of Assistant Director or Designer for a MainStage production, working in close collaboration with their professors.
