Scott Henkels (he/him)

Assistant Technical Director and Master Carpenter

ETCP Rigger: Theater #958 Scott particularly enjoys a good pun, as well as good storytelling, and is glad to have the opportunity to share in telling stories of all kinds with the students at Dartmouth College. In the shops and backstage, Scott especially appreciates finding elegant solutions to technical challenges and the collaborative process of solution-finding. Mr. Henkels was a lead carpenter on the 2001 Williamstown Theater Festival Tony Award-winning season with work scheduled to transfer to Broadway prior to 9/11; has managed budgets from single digits to six digits; designed and built the gamut of the Gilbert & Sullivan repertoire; and has served as Technical Director for opera, operetta, classical and contemporary dance, musicals, and plays. Scott is proud of his past students who have founded companies building Broadway, are Production Managing LORT Theaters, Stage Managing for non-profits, propping shows for community theaters, serving on Boards of Directors for a variety of organizations, are Subject Matter Experts in libraries, small business owners, season ticket holders, and many of whom are proud parents and generally good humans. One of the biggest compliments his work has received came from a high school student who just witnessed a towering earthquake near the end of the opera Don Giovanni in a production at the University of Oklahoma who said "I want to go to school somewhere where I can learn to make an earthquake happen onstage!" In his spare time, he enjoys motorcycling (especially on ice), sledding down his driveway, exploring all of the local outdoor spots near and far, and lives off the grid.
