Last week the Department of Theater hosted VoxLab, an annual weeklong residency for Dartmouth theater alumni to develop new works and hone existing projects. This collaboration between alumni, current students, and the theater department connects our students with working artists and gives our alumni the space and time needed for developing live art.
There were opportunities throughout the week for theater students to engage with the resident artists, including a workshop led by Hannah Chodos '06.
"Hannah led the students through a sample of the work they do at The Actors' Gang in the commedia dell'arte style," says lecturer Robert David Grant. "The workshop was participatory and experiential, with the students getting to know the archetypes associated with traditional commedia dell'arte street performance and being introduced to the masks that the actors use."
