Auditions will be held this Wednesday and Thursday evenings for our fully-produced student production:
A fully-produced student production, directed by Virginia Ogden '18
Performances will be in the Bentley Theater, May 27-29
About the show:
In a Manhattan Catholic reformatory in 1914, four teenage girls—Anne, Theresa, Lucy, and Joan—learn about themselves and the world they live in a hilarious, stunning, and heartbreaking tale about friendship, religion, fantasy, and what it is to be a woman. When the girls jokingly begin to venerate birth control activist Margaret Sanger as a saint, they undergo a profound conversion and start to experience miracles that culminate in a shocking, gut-wrenching realization about their past, their present, and their future.
Characters:
Anne, 15: A spitfire with a lust for adventure and the more, uh, exciting things in life. She is tough, aggressive, and sarcastic while at the same time sensitive, fragile, and fiercely protective of her friends.
Theresa, 15: A hopeless romantic with a love for rules and order. She is the sultry, mature, worldly, and creative mediator of the group who loves a good distraction.
Lucy, 14: Innocent and inexperienced, Lucy relies on the people, particularly the women, in her life for any and all information. She is naive and zealous, but she has the purest heart and the greatest affection for fantasy.
Joan, 15: Joan is cool, aloof, proud, and strong. She is damaged and weary to trust others but far from broken with a vicious temper when pushed. She still believes in love
