Conceived and adapted by Cameron Buxton '19

A multilingual adaptation of Eugène Ionesco’s The Bald Soprano done in French, Spanish, and English exploring the interactions and limitations of language. A traditional English couple, the SMITHS, have invited their friends, the MARTINS, over for dinner. The two couples are later joined by the FIRE CHIEF and MARY the maid. As the evening wears on, tensions rise over continued inability to understand what anyone else is saying. Language itself eventually dissolves into senseless non-sequiturs as the characters seek understanding in the blurred barriers separating each language.
