ABOUT THE PLAY AND THE PRODUCTION
...London, 1665. In the midst of a terrifying and inexplicable epidemic that will ultimately kill over 20% of the city's population, a handful of residents struggle to respond to the cataclysm that threatens to engulf them. Heartbreaking, bitterly funny, and deeply moving, The Living celebrates the power of courage and compassion to combat a climate of overwhelming fear and darkness.
The Living will be performed in the Moore Theater on the following dates and times:
November 8-9, 15-16 @ 8:00 pm
November 10 & 17 @ 2 pm
The production will be directed by Professor Jamie Horton; lighting/set/costume designers will be Professors Dan Kotlowitz, Michael Ganio, and Laurie Churba, respectively. The production will be stage managed by Catherine Darragh '13.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN/AVAILABLE ROLES
The Living takes place in 1665 and the present day. All roles will be open to actors of any race or ethnicity. Additionally, some of the roles designated as male in the script will be open to actors of any gender identity.
Characters:
John Graunt- A scientist. Any gender identity.
Mrs. Sarah Chandler- A shopkeeper's wife. Female.
Dr. Edward Harman- A physician. Male.
Mrs. Elizabeth Finch- A searcher of the dead. Female.
Sir John Lawrence- Lord Mayor. A merchant. Any gender identity.
Lord Brounker- A cavalier. Any gender identity.
Rev. Dr. Thomas Vincent- A nonconformist minister. Any gender identity.
Three (to five) actors of any gender identity to play the following roles:
Actor 1
Mr. Sawyer- a cabinetmaker
Paul- Sarah's brother-in-law, a shopkeeper
First Constable
Lawrence's Clerk
Robert- a smith from Walthamstow
Actor 2
Mr. Mills- an Anglican minister
Second Constable
Brounker's Clerk
Andrew - a shopkeeper from Walthamstow
Actor 3
Dr. Goddard- a physician
Jamey- a watchman
Bill -a farmer from Walthamstow
Ensemble (size TBD): An ensemble of up to 6 additional actors.
AUDITION DETAILS
No previous performance experience is neccesary!

Students are encouraged to read the play prior to auditions. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time. The audition will include reading sides (selections) from the script; all sides are available HERE.
