ABOUT THE PLAY AND THE PRODUCTION
An exploration of teenage revolution in the face of petty authoritarianism. Set in a Catholic girls' school, "The Virtuous Fall of the Girls from Our Lady of Sorrows" recounts the ripple effects caused by one student's decision to produce M4M2, a controversial sequel to Shakespeare's Measure for Measure.
The Virtuous Fall of the Girls from Our Lady of Sorrows is an original new work written by award-winning playwright Gina Femia. A staged reading performance of the play will be directed by director/producer/theatre artist Sagan Chen '14. Rehearsals will begin Tuesday January 25; the project will rehearse approximately 25 hours in total, with a final performance on Friday February 4 in the Bentley Theater. No memorization is required.

No previous performance experience is neccesary!

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN/AVAILABLE ROLES
Minnie: 18, female-identifying. A senior, our scribe. Her personality is so big, wondrous and bubbly, it's hard for people to take her seriously sometimes – but they totally should.
Imogene: 18, female-identifying. A senior, Minnie's best friend. Androgynous, rough talking, tough but has an incredible ability to be vulnerable.
Jenny: 17, female-identifying. A junior, super feminine to the max, wants to be a movie star when she grows up, loves J.Lo.
Mathilda: 14, female-identifying.A freshman, she's always aiming to please, naïve but honest and truthful and incredibly authentic.
Dove: 15, female-identifying. A sophomore, Minnie's younger sister, literally only doing this because her parents told her to do it, wears her hurt on her heart.
Maxx: 15, female-identifying. A sophomore, has been sentenced to drama club as part of her delinquency and punishment and all that, glares at the world.
One actor plays the following roles:
Sister Ignatius: 30. Teaches religion and morality, she is also Minnie's advisor and second in command of the school. Stern. Unflinching in her belief, still wears a habit.
Sister Rose: Teaches History, a little show-boaty.
Sister Lucy: Teaches Chemistry, crotchety and old.
Mrs. O'Donell: Teaches a workshop on menstruation, bubbly and warm.
