A fully-produced Student Senior Fellowship Production directed by JaMeeka Holloway-Burrell
Performances May 4-6, Bentley Theater

Citrus is an original choreopoem: a performance piece, in the style of Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf. The play follows the struggles of black women in America from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day. For this ensemble piece, we are looking for nine female performers from the Afro-Diaspora. Each of the nine roles address timeless journeys of emotions, tribulations, self-acceptance, and resilience associated with black women in America.

To Audition:
Familiarize yourself with the script. Choose one of its poems and be prepared to read it at the audition (no need to memorize).  All interested students will be auditioned at the same time, in one group.  The audition will consist of simple improv and movement exercises.

You may read the script HERE. No experience necessary!

The audition will take place Monday, February 5 from 6 PM – 9 PM in the Bentley Theater.  Callbacks will be Tuesday, February 6 from 6 PM –  9 PM.  No need to sign up in advance. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early (5:45 PM) to fill out an audition form.
