E-Term 2017-2018 Announced!

Dartmouth College Department of Theater/Northern Stage E-Term

The Dartmouth Theater Department and Northern Stage, an award winning
professional theater, invite Dartmouth students to participate in the second
ground breaking experiential (or “E”) term. Up to four applicants will be
selected for fall of 2017.

The students will be housed with the Northern Stage Company, trained for
15 weeks in all aspects of the professional theater, and take part in Northern
Stage’s productions of A Doll’s House and The Little Mermaid. The E-term
Company, as the students are called, will be mentored by the Northern Stage
Artistic and Managing Directors, company members and guests, and Avalon
Professor in the Humanities Peter Hackett. Students will also participate in
classes and career preparation workshops led by Northern Stage
professionals.

Specific assignments will vary from student to student depending on
interests. However, the ultimate goal of the E-Term is to connect students’
academic and professional training at Dartmouth to a career in the
professional theater. Students will have the opportunity to assist in all areas
of the theater including Artistic Direction, Education, Marketing,
Development and Management. Individual projects will be nurtured by staff
including performance pieces and playwriting. Because Northern Stage is a
League of Resident Theaters fully professional Actors Equity company, ETerm
student will earn Equity Membership Candidate (EMC) points towards
joining the actors’ union.

Northern Stage

Northern Stage is an award-winning, fully professional regional theater
company that operates under a LORT-D contract with Actors’ Equity
Association and also maintains contractual relationships with the Stage
Directors and Choreographers Society and United Scenic Artists, Local
USA-829 of IATSE. The company produces a six-show main stage season
each year from October through May with annual attendance at over 30,000
patrons. Northern Stage also offers educational vacation and summer camps
for children ages 6-14 as well as numerous outreach programs that seek to
involve the greater community.
