Mara Sabinson's work as a professional actress, acting teacher, playwright and director has included associations with theatres such as the Berkshire Theater Festival, The Mark Taper Forum, the Dell'Arte Players Company, the N.Y. Public Theatre, La Mama, the New York Theatre Workshop, the San Francisco Mime Troupe, and Los Angeles' Odyssey Theatre; and has taken her to Italy, Sweden, Mexico, Holland, Japan, Germany, Israel, Russia, Canada and both coasts of the U.S. Her training has been with such master teachers as Joe Chaikin, Carl Weber, Fayard Nicholas and Augusto Boal. A member of the Dartmouth Faculty since 1984, Professor Sabinson has also taught in the California State University system, the Dell'Arte School of Physical Theater and offered workshops at Stanford University, The Mark Taper Forum, and San Francisco University. Professor Sabinson also teaches in the Department of Film and Television Studies, the MALS program and Women and Gender Studies. She has served as Department Chair for seven years and as Director of Theater for nine years.
